There is an amazing relationship between food and families. One of the most important things you can do for your family is to have dinners together. When they are young, children learn to try new foods by watching you eat. In the school years you learn about their day and their friends by sitting at the dinner table and talking. When they have all left the nest you learn about your Grandchildren and their lives by having family dinners.
My Grandchildren will tell you I make the best food so they all love to come for dinner. Christmas Eve we all sit down to a formal dinner (twenty to thirty of us). Then out come the Christmas crackers and all the silliness including the hats begins.
We have a Christmas baking weekend for our Grandchildren. It started as a day and as they all grew older and started working it is has now become a weekend so everyone can make at least one day if not stay over night. They bring their friends; some have been coming with my Grandchildren for years. Standing in the middle of the kitchen washing dishes and listening to the conversations floating around you while they bake is a warm wonderful feeling. Everyone takes home a box of cookies at the end of the weekend and a good time was had by all. The cousins have become friends and also do online gaming together throughout the year. In the end it all comes down to the food.
This book “Low Sodium Cooking from the Heart“ I wrote to help people who have been put on a low sodium diet but it was also to share the recipes my family love so much. Any one not on a low sodium diet can always add salt but I don`t believe they need to. Happy cooking and baking!
